If your home’s older than 10 years, chances are you’re leaking energy. A lot of energy and a lot of money. A Home Energy Audit will examine your home’s energy use – attic to basement – and show you where your home’s energy is being leaked. It will identify upgrades you can make to lower your energy bill. Make the upgrades suggested in your audit and you can take advantage of up to $10,000* in rebates available from the Governments of Ontario and Canada. The Government of Ontario will pay 50% of your home’s audit, up to $150.
That means you could save up to $10,000 when you upgrade/replace your windows, furnace, and renovating your basement!
Here is a table detailing the eligible upgrades and rebate/grant for single family in Ontario.
You might also consider replacing your water-guzzling toilet with a new water efficient model. Get money back, save on your water bill and reduce water use.
The City offers Toronto residents a $60 or $75 cash incentive to replace a water-guzzling toilet with a City-selected water-efficient model. Residents must live in detached houses, semis, duplexes (buildings with up to six units), individual condos and townhouses. The auditor will tell you which areas in your house are eligible for rebate when you choose to upgrade. You can get partial rebate for hiring the auditor too.
